Penelope James - Our Dover & Deal Candidate for the General Election on July 4

10 Jun 2024
Penelope James

Penelope James is the Liberal Democrat candidate for Dover & Deal. She is a strong campaigner, hard-working and honest. She has lived in the constituency for almost 25 years and ran her own very successful Communications Consultancy during this time.

Penelope has been a parish councillor for 8 years, Chair of South Kent Mind (the mental health charity), Vice-Chair of Governors for a secondary school and is very involved in the local community where she lives, sitting on a range of committees and campaigning locally on environmental issues.

Penelope has been a vocal campaigner for the broader community of Dover & Deal on issues from ensuring the blood testing clinic in Victoria Hospital, Deal is reinstated, to leading the Dover & Deal Liberal Democrat campaign against the creation of an Internal Border Facility at Dover.

Penelope’s priorities are to fight for a fairer, greener and more prosperous Dover & Deal constituency for everyone. She pledges to listen to local people and put them first.

Specifically, she is campaigning for urgent action to cut the cost-of-living crisis, ensure everyone has access to see a GP and dentist, build more social houses and homes that are properly insulated, and protect our environment, including putting an end to the sewage scandal and making water companies clean up their act.
